Brisbane is buzzing with festive fun as Christmas draws closer, and West End puts you within walking distance of it all. From sparkling light displays to festive parades and twilight markets, there’s something to delight every age. Take the opportunity to explore and embrace the joy of this special season.
The Enchanted Garden – Roma Street Parkland
Prepare to be dazzled by the transformation of the Roma Street Gardens into a Christmas wonderland. Vibrant colours illuminate the gardens into a dreamlike, magical experience. There are food trucks, a licensed bar and picnic spots so you can sit and soak up the festive cheer. Hop onto your tickets, it goes until 21st December.
Nightly Christmas Parade – Little Stanley Street
Your favourite festive characters are part of a nightly parade, starting at The Piazza and heading down Little Stanley Street at 6pm each night. Get a photo with Santa and Mrs Claus by the beach or stop and enjoy the carols on South Bank’s Riverside Green. There are also Christmas workshops happening for both kids and adults, such as wreaths, decorations and cookie decorating.
Christmas Maze – South Bank Piazza
Looking for something a little different? From December 14th the Christmas Maze is open at South Bank. Around every corner there’s sure to be something wonderful. It’s not just a kid thing, there are different versions of the maze for different ages… tickets are $10 for kids and $15 for adults.
Christmas Open Air Cinema –South Bank
Who can resist a Christmas movie? A Christmas classic is playing every night under the summer sky at South Bank overlooking the river. Bring a picnic blanket or some chairs, the event starts at 4pm and goes until 7pm. There will be food trucks and a bar, no need to book tickets – this is a free event.
Brisbane Twilight Market – King George Square
If you tend to leave your Christmas shopping until the last minute, you’re in luck. On December 20th, King George Square will be filled with some of Brisbane’s best designers and makers. Everything here is local and handmade so you’re sure to find some treasures. Browse by everything from handmade clothing, accessories and leather to paper goods, homewares, art and ceramics.
Spirit of Christmas - QPAC
QPAC’s longest running event returns this year to the Concert Hall on December 20th and 21st. A star-studded line up of musical theatre stars will be supported by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the Queensland Youth Orchestra. There will also be the exquisite voices of the Spirit of Christmas Choice and Voices of Birralee. Head to their website for tickets.
